Everyone says there have not been any viruses written for OS X.
My friend has said,"Yes they do get viruses idiot!"
And gave me these links and said "theres your proof"

Depends on what you call normal.
Mathematica 8 (http://www.wolfram.com/mathematica/new-in-8/)
Indeed. I can definitely think of some scientific computing applications that will, essentially, eat as much resources as you want to give them.

We had at least 2 or 3 topic with this car in the past few months.
Use the search function.
Still, cool car/mac.
OK, sorry. I DID do a search beforehand and couldn't find a link, so excuse me. I thought it has not been on macrumors because my search turned up nothing.

these Maps enable you to use maps offline without internet connection. This includes maps street names detail. This will give peace of mind when traveling aboard knowing you will not be charged with roaming fee. So if you live or travel in that city, it will help you much in your life.

No reason in particular, I'm just doing my firsts experiments in socket programming and I thought it could be useful if, for example, I want to connect two client to my server, one in the LAN and one outside. In the client application, I could set the server's ip programmatically and let the client in the LAN connect to the server through the public ip, but now I should think of two versions of the same client (or let the server's ip be set at runtime).

I have an iPad with 3.2.1 which I jailbroke using jailbreakme.com. I have never upgraded since and I was wondering if its worth upgrading to 4.2.1 and how difficult it is to JB. The website jailbreak was so easy that I could not resist but I don't have alot of experience at this type of thing. I have noticed some newer apps are requiring 4.0 and higher so I guess I will eventually need to upgrade.
I was looking into the VM memory hack and noticed several references that 4.2.1 has this native capability. Overall i'm satisfied with the performance as is but would appreciate your thoughts on whether its time to upgrade and JB again. Thanks.

Here is my set-up that works very well and is stable:
3 ATV2 (each to seperate Home theater receiver)
2 Airport Express (each to seperate receiver)
1 1TB Time Capsule
1 3TB Seagate USB 2.0 (only store iTunes media on it)
1 old Dell Inspiron 8500 Laptop
I have the TC connected to the cable modem
I have the 3TB Harddrive connected to the TC
I have the Dell Computer connected by ethernet cable to the TC
Each of the ATV2's and AE's are connected wirelessly to the TC
I use the Dell as my iTunes Server and have it mapped to the iTunes library on the 3TB Harddrive. I can stream music to all 5 devices without any fading or delays. I can stream video to any of the ATV2's with no issues. Each of the ATV2s can access the shared iTunes library with no issues.
Movies typically start playing on the ATV2's after about 10 seconds and are usually fully loaded in about 10 minutes (typical file size is 1-2GB).
I use multiple iPhones (3Gs and 4) and iPad 1 to control the Dell iTunes library when streaming music. I also have two MBPros connected wirelessly to the TC and a 320GB NAS. I only use the TC for backup of 1 of the MBP's.

Your problem is that you formatted it as FAT32, which win7 doesn't like. What you need to do is create the partition with Boot Camp Assistant like before, but when it asks if you want to go to the installer, say no. Then use winclone to restore on that partition. I don't believe that it gets formatted in that process.

AppCleaner will uninstall every part of a program, including the oddball things that don't get uninstalled when you drag it to the trash.
No, it won't.
Thanks!! That works awesome!!
Actually, it doesn't.
u can also use Appzapper.
That's not any better.
AppZapper, AppCleaner, CleanApp, TrashMe, and similar apps do not do a thorough job of removing all files/folders related to deleted apps. I tested several of these, using Skype as the app to be removed. Of 17 items to be removed:
AppZapper missed 13 items
AppCleaner missed 11 items
AppDelete missed 8 items
Hazel missed 9 items
I also tested AppTrap, CleanMyMac and a few others, but don't recall how many items they missed. All left files/folders behind. In most cases, they remove .plist files and a few others, but leave behind much larger files and folders. (you will find a discussion of these tests in the thread linked below)
One app that I would not recommend, based on the number of complaints that have been posted in this forum and elsewhere, is CleanMyMac. As an example: CleanMyMac cleaned too much (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=709930)
The only effective method for complete app removal is manual deletion:
Best way to FULLY DELETE a program (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=11171082&postcount=16)

I have been waiting to hear the results from the Final Cut meeting last night. I haven't heard anyone celebrating the release of FC Server, or any other cool FC-related anything.
Does anyone know what ever came of this "secret announcement?"
Nope, but must not have been anything important or else we'd have heard about it or seen an update of some sort on the apple site.

Hey all,
Long time listener first time caller, err I mean poster. I bought my first MacBook Pro (early 17", 2.3GHz, 8GB ram, anti-glare) in March and absolutely love it! Anyway the new iMacs were announced (as I'm sure everyone is aware of lol) and I started thinking about getting an iMac as my main machine and selling my 17" MBP. I'm currently deployed to Afghanistan so this wouldn't be until July when we get back, but a friend is ready to buy my 17, in fact we've already worked out a good price for both us of :D
So now the only thing left to decide is, do I get the 2.7GHz 13 inch, or the 2.0GHz 15 inch. I priced the 13" at $1748 ($1499 base + $249 AppleCare) versus the 15" (lower end model) at $2298 ($1799 base + $150 for hi-res anti-glare + $349 AppleCare). I'm gonna upgrade the RAM and HDDs myself, (getting an OptiBay, 256GB c300, and 750GB Scorpio Black for the new laptop too lol) so the cost for that is gonna be the same regardless of which model I get. I also like the idea of being able to just walk into an Apple Store and leaving with my new laptop, do they normally stock the hi-res anti-glare 15"?
I'd mostly be using the laptop while traveling (or deploying again lol), I use Aperture regularly (check out my Photography site at www.aaronpbrown.com) and may occasionally use Final Cut Express. Am I gonna miss the real estate on a 13" MBP, especially coming from a 17"? Also is the dedicated graphics, extra screen and quad core worth $550 over the 13?
Thanks for taking a look!

Personally, I can't even fathom still being on 3.2.1, considering how many changes/features have been added since then to 4.2.1. And considering how easy it is to jailbreak, it's a total no-brainer.

Haven't had experience with either kb; I heard mechanical keys are better for typing. Still, if you are looking for a nice keyboard, you could try the Kensington Slimtype. It's nice, and doesn't cost a lot.
Sorry for the short post; don't know what else I could say.

Well it would be intresting to see what others say but
Grunt in perhaps , Dual CPU, lower speed
against
One CPU higher Speed
Just look into the debates about whether to get the 6-core 3.33Ghz Mac Pro or the 8-core 2.4Ghz Mac Pro.
There's been enough of people saying what they think :p

To the OP: We're on the verge of getting the new generation of SSDs from Intel, Micron, and SandForce over the next few months. Probably best to wait a bit to see how the new ones are (and/or wait for the current-gen ones to drop in price).

Yes of course - but so what? We aren't islamophobic, are we?
