"Intel will use this novel 22nm technology to manufacture its Ivy Bridge processors, which should be in volume production in the second half of this year and available in PCs and servers starting in early 2012."
They start production this year. Won't be available until 2012.

I love polls. They're almost always *********. But fun.
My favorite recently was the American Bar Association poll of lawyers, 30% of whom could not successfully name the 3 branches of the federal government.
EDIT: edesign, you should read this article (http://www.sirc.org/publik/white_van_man.html) and develop more sympathy for the oft-maligned White Van Man...

An Airport reliability fix for Intel iMacs would be nice. Too many threads on that one here. Goodness knows what Apple Discussions is like.
Mhm yeah, they definitely still haven't got Intel Mac airport sorted properly. My Mac mini worked like a charm until 10.4.8 as well, it was definitely that which screwed mine up!
Still, I doubt that'll be mentioned today.

I preordered and am hoping to have it before 6pm. But I'd be at the West County store probably if I needed to. I agree, the Galleria store is too small.

My girl used to use a Candyshell (the light blue and pink one). Now she has a pink and white Otterbox Defender and she couldn't be happier which actually shocked me.
Generally, the ladies don't seem care about the actual style of the case or even it's functionality. The seem to only care about the color. Granted that is a blanket statement and doesn't apply to the entire gender but the past couple of girlfriends I've had have had this same attitude towards their phones.

Here is how to get it working without Java crap.
http://michelf.com/projects/multi-safari/
Just run Safari 4.05 :)
Works like it did b4.
Not sure about remote access to a lion host as I have not tested that.
awesome! been using that stupid java crap where my mouse is like 2 inches off.
and fyi accessing logmein on a lion host works but you need to make sure you have the host set to only go to screen saver and not sleep or sleep display. since lion now requires a physical mouse click to work logmein doesn't allow for waking the screen up and you can therefore not do anything. if it is just using a screen saver it works perfectly.

There was a snafu when the new forum first went up where non-demis could access the private forum. I'm pretty sure arn just eliminated all access for the time being, until he sorts out some other upgrade issues.

How do you like to a category... like "For more information, see [[Category:XYZ]]" only adds the page to that category... but I just want to link to that category page...
Category:Ports you mean?
That is what you place in brackets... [[Category:Ports]]

A 2x Teleconverter with only one exception will (a) generally suck in terms of image quality and (b) be generally useless on a lens that doesn't have an aperture of f/2.8 or wider. Your lens is f/5.6 at the long end, so that's a non-starter.
The one exception is the newest Nikon TC-20E-III, which has the best image quality of any 2x TC ever made by a large margin. It still wouldn't help with the light loss though. You lose two stops of light with a 2x TC- that would put your lens at f/11- no autofocus there for sure.
The Sigma 50-500mm lens is about the cheapest way to get more distance in a zoom, but it's also going to need a lot of light when zoomed all the way.

I've never understood the need for file folderization. Let the apps use the files as needed. If you do need folders, try storing in the cloud through Dropbox or some other service.

I have been wanting to get an HD for scratch disks and to edit directly onto the external HD in Final Cut.
Due to my lack of experience with external HD'S, I went ahead and bought a 1TB USB 3.0 Western Digital passport drive.. but I just found out about Firewire 800 that is seemingly faster and better for constant transfer (which I believe video editing falls under).
I'm just wondering how significant the difference is? Afaik, right now the biggest Firewire 800 drive available (that runs power off source and not outlet) is the Western Digital 640GB, and it costs around $40 more than the 1TB USB 3.0 passport.
Is it worth the upgrade if size/cost isn't an issue? I could always get a bigger USB3.0 drive for storage, and then use the FW800 drive for editing, but don't really want to make the plunge unless the speeds are considerably faster/noticeable. Any insight would be lovely.
Thanks!

Since 10.6.4 I've experienced...Aperture 3 freezes and beach balls
AMEN. Aperture 3 is an unusable wreck. And it wasn't just the 10.6.4 update. It wasn't even close to being ready for prime-time when it was released. Any image over 10MP results in app-crashing beach balls when using the rotate tool (almost 100% of the time), even on the newest MBP. Over 10MP in RAW...forget it altogether in my experience.

Even before the excitement of GBC 1.0 subsides, we're at it again! On Friday, we (GarageBandCreations.com) will be holding several contests for GarageBand Compositions and other miscellaneous things. We'll be giving away 3 gift certificates to the iTunes Music Store and a GBC T-Shirt (Erika Edition) in one night!
