Is there a software similar to Expat Shield for a Mac. I want to play the BBC iPlayer outside the UK, thanks.

I haven't gotten an Apple product on launch day before, but my understanding is that because the retail launch is so much larger for the iPad 2 than the original, the process/availability may be quite different. Which model are you shooting for? I'm looking for a 64gb wifi model, so my hope is that the price will deter sales for a couple hours.
I get out of class around 3, and I think I'm going to try the apple store to get one at 5:00 . . .if that fails I'm going to move on to on Lawndale target . . .then Walmart in Asheboro - where I'm unfortunate enough live.
To get back to answering your question, I'd say that depending on the model that you're looking for, BB may or may not be the best bet given their limited stock.
I am looking for the white 32gb wifi model. I was going to get the 16gb but that will probably be the first to go. I'm not going to the apple store but I would love to know how the line looks over there. I'm sure it is packed.
I just called BB (off of Wendover) about 30 mins ago and they said they have no line so I am pretty sure I can get one today at BB unless a mob of people come before I get off at 3pm.

Apple's update pattern on displays has been more or less infrequent lately. Just buy now, there is absolutely no idea about the next gen ACD.

Yeah there is a major problem with backlit wireless keyboards: The batteries aren't going to last for months anymore, are they? Where is all that power for the lights going to come from?

If you do a little bit of searing, you can see some pretty cool videos by people using nothing but iPhones, especially the iphone4.
Has anyone here played with the iPhone 4 to do some videos?
I have bought some stuff on eBay such as a wide angle lens and macro lens to play with. I am having a hell of a time trying to find a 15ft or longer 3ring cable extension to attach a external mic to. But once I have that, I'll use another eBay toy to mount it on a small tripod.
Some might wonder why I am bothring with the iPhone as a video tool, but the fact that I can carry a HD camera kit in my shoulder bag is too convenient not to try.
I'll be using it do interviews and creative work.
More to come.
Wow! I've been thinking about doing an iPhone project myself ever since the 4 came - the idea seems fun (me being a total newbie with shootng)! Now you got me REALLY wanting to get it on!!
What lenses and equipment would you say is necessary? Is some kind of wireless mics an option?

Hello guys, new poster here. I have nowhere else to go except for the Apple store which I do not want to do just yet.
Last night, I was getting out of my car and I had my iPhone on my lap. Naturally I forgot that it was there and it fell on the floor. I inspected it for damage and didn't see a scratch or anything. I get inside and further inspect the phone and I noticed that it shut off. I tried to turn it on like normal, and then once that did not work, I tried to reboot it (home and power held down together) and that did not work. I also noticed that it fell where the Vibrate On/Off switch was, because of a scratch I could not see outside.
Anyway, I tried charging it via USB and then rebooting it. All that would happen is the Apple screen came up for about 10 seconds tops and it would shut off by itself. I tried charging it via the wall charger and I got a bit farther:
the Apple screen would show up, and go through the normal motions. It told me I needed to plug it into iTunes (which I can't) so I knew I had to have screwed something up. All I am able to do is make an emergency call. The phone says I have No Service, it is the wrong time, it also has an alarm icon near the battery, and the battery itself is saying it is charging from 0%-1%. Once I take it off of the charger it dies right away. I did some research this morning before posting and I found that it could be that the battery had come loose in its fall, or screw came loose, whichever.
Have any of you experienced this before? Have a solution? Anything?
Thanks in advance.

Is it true you actually have to launch Launchpad first, then find your app and click it open? if so, how is that an improvement? By the time you perform those steps, you could have typed the app name into Spotlight, or opened the app folder in the dock.
Maybe there's a way to have Launchpad open upon startup of your machine by default, then just click open app icons from there, much in the same way Windows users have icons pinned to their desktops?
Looking forward to WWDC in a month when we should get a better idea of what Lion is really going to be like.

wow...that code is really messy, but the site looks great!
i'm not entirely sure which boxes you're talking about either. html code really isn't all that scary in fact. once you know a few basic tags and such it's pretty easy. like here's the code to make a really basic page that says "hello world" in helvetica, size 5, green, and centered. oh, and with a title.
<html>
<head>
<title>Hi</title>
</head>
<body>
<center>
<font face="helvetica" size="5" color="green">Hello World</font>
</center>
</body>
</html>
the <html> tag tells the browser to start an html document, the <head> tells it that there's information about the page that won't be displayed in the page, the <title> opens a tag that says what to display in the title bar, the </title> says that the title is finished. the </head> says that the info about the page is done. the <body> tells what to display, basically. the <center> tells it to center the following info, the <font> tag, along with the attributes face, size, and color, and the values helvetica, 5, and green tell it how to style the text. "Hellow World" tells it the text to display. </font> tells it that that's the end of the text styled that way. </center> stops text after that from being centered, </body> ends the main info, and </html> closes the document. in general to open a tag it goes like <tag> and to close it it's <tag> and to define attributes and values it's <tag attribute="value"> and then </tag> there are, of course, exceptions...
knowing the basics of the code and such can really help you simplify the code that golive generates, and a lot of things are easier, imo, to do by hand than in golive. link targets, for example. for the life of me i cant figure out how to get a link to open in an iframe in golive without going into the source...:rolleyes:
sorry for the long post :o

I was after the CoolerMaster Q Aluminium keyboard that toezter has, but it seems to be discontinued.
After a trip to my local evil PC World though (do they ever get any better?!?) I saw a fully brushed aluminium, PB type (but full) keyboard. Looks very, very nice. Pricey at 50, and is USB not wireless. But the major downer is the logo on the keyboard right above the function keys in the centre.....

I have a 15" PBG4 1.25ghz and am having some screen artifacts show up. Everything is running fine otherwise. I haven't used this machine at all in months and I'm trying to clean it up to sell it. Any info would be helpful.

He must have meant labels. Studios don't make hardly squat, and are not commissioned on sales.
I was interning at a studio in Franklin, TN (basically Nashville) when I came in early in the morning and woke up the main studio engineer (he had slept there overnight after a long session). When he got on his feet he said, "Why am I doing this?" I made my mind up right then that I didn't want to be in the same boat and decided not to work in the industry after getting my B.S.

Hey, I have a few questions regarding recording interface and mics. All I want to be able to record is my guitar and voice at the same time and also separately. This is what I am looking at getting and I was just wondering on your opinions.
If it's an electric guitar and you want to plugit in directly then you are OK. But I'd go for an interface with two phantom powered XLR mic inputs then you can mic a guitar speaker cab or mic an acoustic guitar.
I like the Presonsus "audio box" but any good brand with specs like that will work.
One thing I look for is that the audio interface work on the Mac with no drivers to install. This way you never have to wait and hope that new drivers are available after an OS upgrade. Devices that are "class compliant" don't need drivers, other then those built into Mac OS.
Bottom line is you need to keep your options open on how to record the guitar and for different kinds of guitar like acoustic, acoustic with pickup, electric with direct plug in and a mic'd speaker. Until you've tried you don't know what you will like best. As an example, I'm building a speaker dummy load/simulator that will have an XLR line out. This will (I hope) capture the amp's tone (but not the speaker's tone) without need of a microphone -- it's good to try stuff.
As for a good vocal mic. Looks like you have the right kind, but the brand is a personal preference thing

I'm not sure how many production weeks there were for the iphone 8gb. I can tell you that, this specific one was produced in July. Why are you inquiring about this info anyway?
Just bought a sealed one to keep it as a collector's item (or potential investment). Never been opened.
