i have the windows cd but i have no idea how to repair it using the cd. can someone help me with the commands?

If XP: Insert disc, hold alt/opt at startup then choose the Windows disc. Wait for the computer to load all the drivers etc. Then press the following keys in the following order: 'Enter', 'F8', then 'R'. Then follow the onscreen prompts. It'll look like Windows is reinstalling itself but it is actually just repairing the system. All your files and settings will be preserved.
Vista/7: Insert disc, hold alt/opt at startup then choose the Windows disc. Wait for the computer to load the Windows installer. Choose language/kb layout/etc then click Next. Don't click Install now, instead, select Repair your computer. Choose your Windows installation in the popup and click Next. yeah that's way over my head. not really sure what to tell you. i kinda tried to do it earlier this fall, with no luck either
I'll post it elsewhere when I get home. I have seen a number of very similar problems that seem to stem from bad wu's so I'll keep trying. It would be my luck though to have the first wu be bad making me think my set up isn't right.

I need to buy a monitor for a powerbook and saw a few companies selling new, in the box 17" Apple Studio Displays online. The price is about $450. I have always loved the look of that monitor, but am wondering how well they stack up with today's monitors. In addition, I believe for the same price I could get 19" - so I am torn. Any advice? :confused:

I agree with the previous three posts. And I think late Sep./Early October would be an excellent date.
This past Friday a classmate had a look at the iBook I brought to class and said he was going to get a Mac. :) He said that he hates desktops and wants to do something with Photography, but not for heavy usage. I recommended him to wait until Sep/Oct until new iBooks are released, so he (1) can get an older one cheap, or (2) get the fastest one.

This is just more proof that Apple just isn't paying enough attention to education...
I'm referring of course to the incorrect use of "it's" in the quoted sentence. If the folks at Apple had only paid more attention to their education, they would know the difference between "it's" and "its"! :)
I don't know how popular this service was, or how much material was on it, but it sounds to me as though iTunes U will not be an exact replacement. I hope that announcing this right before the school year starts for most teachers will not be putting too many people out...

I cant speak for the porsche, but the LaCie d2 is a great drive. I have a 250GB one w/ FW800 and its great. i've had it for 9-10 months now, and it hasnt frozen or crashed on me or anything. It emits a very light hum, and i rarely hear the drive. the only time it makes a lot of noise is when im capturing video, or scrubbing really quickly in FCP.

The border around the content area (just outside the drop shadow) isn't the same as the background...is that intentional?
It could be to do with web-safe colours- when you designed the images did you use photoshop with the pallette set to 'web'? Just an idea. Also, Macs use a default gamma value 1.8 whereas windows uses 2.2, and again perhaps it's something to do with that. I'm stabbing in the dark here really, because I'm not sure. I've had some weird problems with my own sites that are only apparent under Safari...

I bet they need to update the app for the new accessory. I have been using Netflix with the apple component cable since we got our ipad, it works great.
